THE TREATY OF WAITANGI!!!!!!!

The Treaty was first signed on the 6th of February 1840. There was about 40 chiefs signing the Treaty of Waitangi. Hone Heke was one of the first persons to sign the Treaty of Waitangi.

There were a couple people there to sign the Treaty. Some of them traveled to Bay of Islands to sign the Treaty of Waitangi. Also the Treaty was needed because there was too much conflict.

The communication between Pakeha and Maori  was difficult, they didn’t want to risk the treaty being lost so they made nine copies. Most of them were made by hand.

Protection, Partnership, Participation. That was the treaty about and to this day at Pt England school we follow those three P’s. Protection means protecting your self .  Partnership means two people working together as one. Finally Participation means you have to work together as a team.
